Science fiction
[edit]Edward Gibson is listed in List of science fiction authors#G, but this article does not mention any such writings. Is that a different Edward Gibson, or was that merely left out? --ssd 16:13, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Apparently was not included in 2004. It's there now. I added references to make more clear.TJRC (talk) 01:33, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
Leaving NASA
[edit]According to the article, Gibson resigned from NASA in 1974, but then appears to have come back in 1977 ("In March 1977, Dr. Gibson returned to the Astronaut Office Astronaut candidate selection and training as Chief of the Scientist-Astronaut Candidates.") The section ends at that point, and the next section talks about his post-NASA career. What was his role as "Chief of the Scientist-Astronaut Candidates"? Did he select astronauts to fly on the Shuttle, or was he in the running himself, and when did he officially leave NASA for the last time? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 10:41, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
Be specific about engineering and the sciences.
[edit]Subjects like "engineering", "physics", "astronautics", "history", and "psychology" are common nouns, and they are NOT capitalized.
Also, engineering is such a HUGE field of endeavor that it is manditory to specify a person's specific field of engineering. These include the following:
aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, safety engineering, construction engineering, and more, especially including the subfields like agricultural engineering, hydraulic engineering, traffic engineerng, computer engineering, aeronautical engineering, and marine engineering.
Sorry, but if you are not more specific about engineering, then you risk coming across as dimwits. It is just like "teacher". What kind of a teacher?

- Fixed the common nouns. Every citation I can find on his degree simply says it was 'engineering', and since that is all the information we have, that is what must stay in the article. Kees08 (Talk) 06:10, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
